Canada Day and Me:

I will be in Newfoundland this Canada Day; but across the land, lots of folks will be "Singing for their Songs".

A little bird told me Stuart McLean will be singing a few bars of Firewatch during this show.

Here are some Details:

The second annual Sing For Your Song
Canada Day special

– CBC Radio One. Join Amanda Putz and Grant Lawrence from 4 to 6 p.m. local times (4:30-6:30 p.m. NL).

Listeners and CBC personalities across the country phoned into our voicemail to request their favourite Canadian songs to sing along to. The trick is: they had to sing their requests. We'll hear CBC Radio 2 Tempo host Julie Nesrallah's stunning Joni Mitchell rendition, Vinyl Cafe's Stuart McLean singing Jim Bryson, Kathleen Petty and Don Newman doing Four Strong Winds... together, as well as various listeners singing for Joel Plaskett, Sarah McLachlan, and more! Grant Lawrence also released the Radio 3 podcast version on June 26th!

Oh Canada Volume 1:

What better way to say "come on summer" than with a fine Canadian compilation from a fine UK blog.

Lots of Kelp fun on this one: Oh Canada Volume 1

Happy Friday friends,

Hi All:

Here I be in Lewiston, NY with family in tow having a lovely week. Playing the Art Park amphitheatre all week with the Kingston 5.

What is that you ask, "hey Jim, do a show in Halifax"?

OK I will. How about July 7th at the Company House in North Halifax?

Details? Slow down now, those will be coming.

Other news? Planning some mid summer recordings so that I can see how the new songs are sticking when I throw them against a wall.

That is all for now, enjoy your day wherever you may roam,

Jim Bryson Live at the First Baptist Church gets Official Street Release!!!

In Feburary 2008 Jim returned home from heavy touring to play a memorable show with Baby Eagle at the historical First Baptist Church. The show's live audio was run by Ken Stone, and was recorded to digitalness by Jarrett Bartlett, and turned out fantastic. So much so, that we decided it should become a proper release.

"Live at the First Baptist Church" is an enjoyable ride through the Bryson songbook, and a must for the "serious fan" (ie. those that relish his bouts of between-song banter-itis...heh).
Featuring artwork from Rob Hinchley, the CD package looks pretty dang sharp too. Download Jim's live version of "All the Fallen Leaves" at http://www.kelprecords.com/downloads/jimbryson_fallenleaves.mp3 to hear what I am talking about.

The album will be in stores on Tuesday April 28th, but you can preorder your copy direct from kelprecords.com for only a discounted $13 this week and we will send along the MP3s immediately so you can start enjoying it before the CD makes it to your mailbox.

It will also be availble in the digital world format on iTunes.

Hey All:

Thanks so much for coming out to the GCTC.

Sorry it was so warm there!

Sorry also the show started a bit late. As a man on early morning baby-duty, I understand.

I very much appreciate it and so does the lovelies at the Folk Festival.

Here is something from I Can't Fly (thanks flecton): Enjoy!!!

As the Family Sleeps:

All is quiet (touch wood) here in Toronto tonight. Lisa and Bea made the foggy drive down the 401 and we are together now until Saturday.

Just reading the Camp Radio Blog And getting a tad envious of all the recording Chris is getting done.

On the travel front, here is a condensed version of our tour thus far: left Canada / got hassled at the border for a while / played in a haunted theatre in Kent / found a "love toilet" in Cincinnati / drove through a lake effect blizzard / watched the Superbowl in Pittsburgh / had an amazing time in Chicago / welcomed Gord Tough aboard and came home to Canada.

To be continued....

Night, night friends, Twitter on!!!
