Hi Fi Reunion Weekend:
A long long time ago before the Internet had grabbed us all to say hello to people we don't even know, there lived a great little basement club in Ottawa called the Hi Fi. It nurtured and helped send bands like The Recoilers, Werbo, The Fiftymen and this page's namesake Jim Bryson out into the world.
Well after all this time and for a reason none of us know, these bands and many more will get together in the cozy confines of Wakefield's Cafe 1870 for three special shows.
Jim will play ONLY songs from his debut Occasionals recording and will be backed up by the long lost Recoilers.
There is a Facebook page for this event as well right HERE
Jim Plays Saturday April 24th
For day to day musings and goings on, you can always see Jim in the Twitterverse and Facebook.
"Finally, we are very excited about the NEW Jim Bryson record we worked on. You might remember Jim from his time with The Weakerthans, as a multi-instrumentalist, and wearer of handsome shirts! Jim had a great idea to record his new songs with us at a cozy cabin in Falcon Lake, Manitoba, during the middle of Winter. We had a great time making music with Jim and we went for hikes in the snow and walked on the frozen lake. Even the deer came to investigate! Keep an eye open for this record, it's gonna be a good'un!"
I too and quite excited and I cannot wait for folks to hear these songs, they are scrappy and full of life I think.
That is the word from the 613, have a great weekend friends,
Hi gang, there is much to sort out and get in place and wheels to be attached, but we are all very excited to say that the Jim Bryson and The Weakerthans record is recorded and mixed.
Tentatively titled "The Falcon Lake Incident", it features goodies recorded just this January in the -30 below glory on Falcon Lake, Manitoba.
There is much more to tell, but what can be said is that there will be some shows and some songs and seemingly smiles all around.
There are a bunch of photo's over on the Weakerthans Facebook Page if you consort with that part of the inter-world.
Check in again soon for music, show info, photo's and more details,
