Where We Are:

Where we are?
Are we where? We are in Kansas City today and it is very uncertain as to what will happen this weekend with the Austin City Limits Music festival. With Hurricane Rita on the verge of hitting land, we are in a wait and see situation. The plan for now is to play tonight and see what tomorrow look like.
Oh My CBC: Have a looksie at www.thestandgt.com today. Mr. Page has an excellent rant regarding the current CBC lockout. Oh, CBC, you should be very, very ashamed of yourself. I have stopped listenning altogether and turned my attention completely to CKCU and WNYC, a NPR station. I joked about moving over the 580 way, but it is too bleak. For those who live in the itunes world, WNYC it is in the radio player under "public".
The Photo: I found this bear "sleeping" on West Queen St. Friday Morning. After a long hot summer, the bear just needed some rest.
I should soon get home, we are moving next week...

Sunny Afternoon:

It has taken longer than most years but I have finally got out a couple of times now on my old Yamaha Scooter. Bought three years ago from AV, we never even knew that is would run again. So far so good this year.
I had a great yesterday playing for the locked out CBC workers on the Sparks Street mall. They are probably looking at a long, dirty fight down there, so if you can drop by and show some support.
To follow the goings on with the lockout, visit "The View From Ottawa: CBC Lockout Blog"
For now, goodday...

Over, rovers...

Greeting From The Month of August:
It is true, it has been a good long while that I have stayed far away from the lights of Blogger. No real reason, just because.
There are people screaming and singing some sort of a rugby fight song. This will bode well for the usual fucking clowns fighting outside of our house at 2am. Lisa is a work and I have just finished up some laundry and was looking around the interweave and now here I am for you and this post.
First thing first, I have for reason unknown to me, started jogging. I thought for a while about it and I have gone running now twice this week. It will kill me, I am sure of that. My curiosity is how it actually works: how long would one go out for, how fast am I suppose to run, why am I doing this, etc...
Radio World: In July I recorded an live show with Lynn Miles for the radio show FUSE. This show will be airing next Sunday, August 21 nationally on CBC Radio One and Two. Check out the details RIGHT HERE.
.Org Gets a Facelift:In the not too distant future, Chris will be launching a charming new version of this web-site. Thank to the kind Promofact people, Chris can finally see some money in return for using his free time for this here .org
New Photos': As well, if all this information is not enough, there are a bunch of new photos' up on my Flickr site. You can see them RIGHT HERE. A couple of Wille Nelson and a bunch of other things. Enjoy.
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying this wonderful warm summer we have been blessed with here in Ontario.
Over, rovers...

Well:
Hmm, here we are in Edmonton in the visitors dressing room of the Rexall place we are a long while still before soundcheck or anything like that. It is raining here and I imagine it is keeping folks away from the Edmonton Grand Prix Training run going on today.
No real reason for this photo other than I like how the guitar looks in front of the Leslie. Long time, no post, long time, no post.
This trip is just racing and for Kevin and Joel and I, is the last run of shows before our "summer vacation".
Saskatoon got me buying the lovely new Christine Fellows record "Paper Anniversary". Featuring Jason Tate and John K Sampson and lots of other folks, I really love it already.
Ok, enough of me, over......

Hmmmm:
I will keep this short, lots to do and you are all busy, so no real need to spend to your day on this .org site.
I had to include the photo that sits above the post here where you currently sit cause in hindsite, it seems very surreal and quite unbelievable. Really by definition, playing on Jay Leno and looking up and seeing Dr. Phil, Jay Leno and Ebert and Roper standing on the edge of the stage all watching us play bobbing along, legitimately can be call unbelievable. Dr. Phil told me that "it must be very confusing to play two things at once". Great day, great fun.
Ok, that is all for now, enjoy your day...

Back and Forth and Back Again:

Some wonder will the days off ever stop. The hardest part for many out here has been these days off. They are great after a lump of show, but more difficult to combat when they are as frequent as the shows themselves.
Long drives take up our nights and early mornings and for the second day in a row, we are off and relaxing. Today we are in Austin and the weather is really hot and humid, and everyone has been staying near the hotel and the pool. An evening excursion out is in the plan.
We are back here in Texas this week to tape Austin City Limits tomorrow with the legendary John Prine. For those unfamiliar, Austin City Limits is the long running music program that has been broadcast on PBS since 1975. I have no idea when is will air, but that will all fall in to place in due time.
Another highlight this week will happen on the 22nd, when we play the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
One final note: The Telluride Bluegrass Festival. WOW. That was the word of the day. At dinner, at the shows, walking around. It was so beautiful there and it was a real treat to be able to see Emmylou Harris and Wilco play up in the mountains. I noticed when we came off stage hours earlier, there weren oxygen tanks for the bands if they needed them. Good idea at 7000 ft. above sea level.
Here is a lovely photo of Joel surrounded by the hills and the buses at Telluride. Sammy will appreciate seeing her boy here.
Now go call your father...

Hey All:
We are here on the pacific coast in Soldano, California. Kevin and I spent the afternoon playing catch on the ocean. It has been such a great day. I am only saying this cause I know the weather is great back home, so I don't feel guilty gushing a little bit. After the cold rainy day in San Fransico, we have returned to some pretty nice cool summer weather.
We have found out that we are playing on Jay Leno on June 22nd, Kathleen would have this on her site, it is undergoing and upheaval, so she cannot do such things at this time.
We had a great day off yesterday in Los Angeles, Colin rented a car and we went on lots of fun adventures, including a trip up and around Mullholland Drive. So much fun, and a little "In and Out" burger to end the day.
Congratgulations the Sean and Antje on their wedding day today. While I am loving it here, I am sadly missing a great party tonight back home.
Well, that is all for now, have a great weekend,
jb...
PS: HERE are some more photos'. Thanks to Mr. Pate, the blog photo problem has been worked around. The second photo is of the rear end of the Willie Stargel Monument in Pittsburgh.

What are We Doing?:
What are we doing? Where are we? What happenned to us? Why does nobody write? All good questions.
Kevin and Colin are throwing the baseball around in a parking lot across the street from the bus. We are in Boise, Idaho on out first day off. We were home for a much needed week of rest, and while I have not completely solved my blogger issues, I can again post, just without photos' for the time being.
We will soon head southwest into Nevada and California and I wish we could curve off the path and head to the Grand Canyon, but this is not in the cards.
All of this touring has been amazing for me and has provided a well timed break from my own songs and shows. I had been feeling a little bummed about it all recently and thanks to all of this, I have been able to travel and play and not worry about much.
Sorry for the less frequent posts, but for now I have been going on walks during the day instead of writing blogs. Fitness over facts and rumours.
So what else, hmmmm, ok, a guy in North hampton , Mass. asked me if I knew anything about Canada building monuments for Vietnam draft dodgers? not a word of a lie. I replied that i was not aware of it and confidently express that "oh, its' happenning, you should look into it".
Oh, also a few of us on Thursday went to the Experience Music Project in Seattle to see the Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix exhibits. To quote Joel " It was a great $10 museum, and an ok $20 museum".
I am trying to get some photos' up on the Flickr site, so you can click HERE to see what is up there.

Ok, over, rovers......

Greetings:
We are in the middle on Pennsilvania on a day off. There are no sidewalks here and just strip malls and I think that walking is not the norm. I went to bed after the show last night and slept for 12hrs. When i got up today at 2pn, there was no-one around and I had no idea we were. I finally found Joel and we went looking for food and such.
Sorry, I have nothing really to report, I am excited to get home for lisas' 30th birthday on Monday. We have been having some great shows and have two more remaining before our week break.
I have been having problem putting photos' up so that is why there have been none. I will try this again later, for now, i hope this finds you all well...

Hey There:

Here is a good story. Lisa called me on Sunday slightly concerned due to the following: It seems that our youngest cat Dolly (who is not supposed to go out), was out hiding in the unbloomed tiger lillies watching a squirrel up in the big maple tree behind our house. So as said Squirrel came down from the tree, dolly gave chase into the house and down in the basement, where the squirrel remains. Lisa is uncertain of the exact next step, but she was to try some peanut butter on the stairs today. Erin Mckeown was at our show last night and suggested the "humane trap" as our best option, which is wise advice and will be passed on home next conversation.
We are in Boston today and Kevin and went out walking and ended up at Fenway to have a look and take a couple of photos'. Now the wall between those photos' and this site is my missing camera cable. must find it.....

Happy Mothers Day:
Greetings and Happy Mothers day to all. So here is the current: nothing exciting to really report but we are in Northampton, Mass. today on a day off and Kevin and Joel and I have just returned from a long walk around and a couple of Guiness' on the way.
A quick follow up: I sent the window photo over to the Mirror Project website for a laugh and now it seems it has made it way to their site. So thanks to them and HERE is the link.
Well, that is all for now, take care...

Quick Mid "Tax" Story:
I am sitting here as I have been since Sunday night working through all these years of taxes and being a "down to the penny" good tax citizen and something microscopically odd occured. I was going through receipts for 2002 and listenning to a record and as I was sorting through the pile, I picked up the receipt from when I bought the record in April 2002.
Anyhow, I found it interesting at the time, which is only a couple of minutes ago, so the "at the time" is now a time just past.
Back to counting, and soon; in another lifetime, I will be done the adding and converting and will be doing something else with my evenings, mornings and afternoons, like writing more of these posts....

Post Blog: Alison from Ottawa pointed out the web-site The Mirror Project that features photos' and accompanying stories from pictures in reflection. Great site, thank you.
